Welcome to IEEE Student Branch at Concordia University of Edmonton. The Student branch works under the aegis of Northern Canada Section of IEEE. Members in the Student Branch include graduate students of Master of Information Systems Security Management and Master of Information Systems Assurance Management. Student Branch undertake many student activities to promote IEEE and expose current graduate students to professional networking through various IEEE events.

HOUR OF CODE

Hour of Code event was organized at Concordia University of Edmonton on 20-Nov-2016. The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. This grassroots campaign is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide.

WOMEN IN ENGINERING (WIE) EVENT

IEEE NCS WIE, UA-WISE and WISER hosted annual Industry Mixer Event on October 13, 2016 at ETLC Solarium in University of Alberta. The event brought together Undergraduate, Graduate and early Career Professionals in Science, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) ; For an evening of Networking, Informal Discussions and exposure to career opportunities in Industry, Academia and Government.
Professor Rossitza Marnova, Faculty in Mathematics and Computer Science at Concordia University of Edmonton was the Guest Speaker. Students from IEEE student Branch of Concordia University of Edmonton, participated in the event.

IEEE STUDENT CONGRESS, MISSISSAUGA, ON

IEEE Canada SAC Congress was held on September 16-18, 2016 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
Student Congress is a gathering of Student Branch Leaders and is meant for sharing operational knowledge of IEEE and how to run a branch, collaborating with each other on activities and initiatives and networking with IEEE Canada committee members and volunteers from across Canada.
IEEE Concordia University of Edmonton, student branch Chair Jagvinder Pal Singh along with student branch Counselor Dr Sergey Butakov represented University in the event.

IEEE NCS BBQ DAY

IEEE Northern Canada Section organized Barbeque Day on August 13, 2016 at Emily Murphy Park, Site 1, Edmonton. The event was open for IEEE members and their families.
Student members from IEEE Concordia University of Edmonton Student Branch participated in the event.

POSTER PRESENTATION

All Student bodies of Concordia University of Edmonton including Graduate student association, MISSM/MISAM, IEEE and ISACA student branch along with MISSM/MISAM department organized a poster presentation event for graduating students to present their research papers via posters on April 11 2016 on campus.

Students from different streams of graduate programs at the university participated in the event.
